Hi, we’re Cat and Con.
Welcome to the Baby Sleep Team family!
We help exhausted parents teach their babies and toddlers to sleep well.
Our story.
We are Cat and Con, the proud parents of two girls – Annabelle and Evelyn. We live in a beautiful beachy town on the East Coast of New Zealand called Mount Maunganui.
We experienced the consequences of sleep deprivation when our second, Evie, was born. She affectionately became nicknamed our velcro baby, as she could not be put down... for five months!
Two little girls from the same parents, born the same weight and who looked nearly identical at birth were at complete opposite ends of not only the sleep spectrum but across everything (breastfed vs. bottle fed, co-sleeping vs. bassinet, the list goes on).
We also run a baby products business called Margaux & May, where we make crib mattress protectors, crib sheets, swaddle blankets and sleep sacks. With international business trips and full days at work, we needed both of the girls to sleep well and be in a predictable and consistent routine.
We quickly learnt that
sleep is not a luxury
– it is a necessity!
Our journey to good sleep.
Exhausted and desperately needing a solution that worked, we spent thousands on sleep consultants, books and sleep guides using various methods and techniques.
While there is a lot of information available, there is conflicting advice at complete opposite ends of the spectrum that is exhausting and overwhelming to navigate through as a sleep deprived parent.
In the process of making sense of the conflicting advice and teaching our girls to sleep well, I became a certified paediatric sleep consultant and wanted to immediately share my knowledge to other sleep-deprived families.
How we can help you.
We’re here to equip parents with the knowledge and methods they need.
Being passionate about sleep, we wanted to make information easy to digest and understand, and to combine multiple techniques and methods that could be adapted and implemented depending on the temperament of the child.
We know that when you’re operating in a sleep-deprived state, your concentration ability completely disappears. This is why our information is all delivered in bite-sized pieces that you can watch or read, and are easy to follow.
We have the goal of empowering parents to equip them with knowledge so that they feel confident to adapt methods and create a plan that will work for each baby and family.
Ultimately, we want everyone to be able to get a good night’s sleep so they can be the parents they want to be!
